Title: Hands-On Masterclass: Integrating Deep Oscillation Therapy into Lymphoedema Management

Experience the Vodder Endorsed Deep Oscillation Therapy in action through a highly practical and interactive session. Learn step-by-step treatment protocols for reducing swelling, softening fibrotic tissue, and accelerating recovery post-surgery or trauma. Participants will leave confident in applying Deep Oscillation Therapy alongside MLD, CDT, compression, and exercise therapy.

Time: 9:00am - 12:30pm

Haddenham Healthcare

Title: From Imaging to Impact: Clinical Applications and Preliminary Outcomes of ICG-Guided Compression Therapy

Indocyanine green lymphography (ICGL) has improved our understanding of lymphatic dysfunction leading to lymphoedema and has enabled more personalised conservative management, particularly in relation to compression garment recommendations. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to ICGL-based compression garment recommendations, their outcomes, and how these can be translated into clinical practice.
The highlight of the workshop will be an exploration of findings from recent translational research conducted at the Australian Lymphoedema Education, Research and Treatment Centre (ALERT), which reports on the clinical outcomes of ICGL-based compression garment recommendations. Participants will also have the opportunity to practise a standardised approach to prescribing compression garments based on these discussions

Presenters:

  • Robbie Blackwell (ALERT – Australian Lymphoedema Education Research and Treatment; Team Leader, Senior Lymphoedema Therapist & Associate Lecturer, Macquarie University)

  • Vincent Paramanandam (PHD) (ALERT – Australian Lymphoedema Education Research and Treatment; Postdoctoral Research Fellow)

  • Tamryn Riemann (Haddenham Healthcare Commercial Clinical Manager, Accredited Lymphoedema Therapist & Occupational Therapist)

  • Jane Phillips (PHD) (Haddenham, Healthcare Clinical Advisor, Accredited Lymphoedema Therapist & Physiotherapist)

  • Gillian Buckley (Haddenham Healthcare Clinical Advisor, Accredited Lymphoedema Therapist & Physiotherapist)

Time: 1:30pm - 5:00pm

Title: Shining the Light on your Lymphoedema Practice

Riancorp is pleased to host a workshop to update lymphoedema practitioners on Low Level Laser Therapy. The workshop will cover some laser basics – what are the important terms to know and understand?
We will update attendees on the latest research, what has been published and what research is currently being undertaken. Lesli Bell is our invited speaker from the USA.  Lesli is an engaging speaker and  she will discuss how she has incorporated laser into her practice.  She will discuss practical use of laser with other techniques to improve scar tissue and fibrosis.

Presenter:

    • After graduating from California State University, Fresno in with a BS in Physical Therapy, she went on to achieve an Advanced Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Regis University’s School of Physical in Denver. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) where she sits on the board of directors for the APTA’s Oncology Section and is the chairperson of the Lymphedema Special Interest Group

The 5S Approach: A Structured Guide to Lymphoedema Examination and Diagnosis.

ELEVATE YOUR LYMPHOEDEMA EXAMINATION AND DIAGNOSIS SKILLS: MASTER THE 5S APPROACH. Join us to master The 5S Approach: A Structured Guide to Lymphoedema Assessment and Diagnosis, based on the essential Clinical Definitions document published by the British Lymphology Society.

What You Will Learn: This interactive workshop will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the 5S clinical features: Skin | Subcutaneous tissues | Site| Size | Shape

Learn what to look for, why each feature is critical, and how to use them to determine the ISL stage, severity, and complexity of lymphoedema. We will provide real-world examples and guide you through a practice scenario to ensure you can confidently apply the assessment guide immediately in your practice.

Transform Your Workflow:  Implementing the 5S Approach brings significant benefits, enabling:

  • Formalised Documentation: Clear, standardised recording of clinical findings.

  • Objective Evaluation: Ease of determining changes in symptoms and establishing a clear baseline.

  • Enhanced Triage: Formalised language to diagnose lymphoedema, allowing for appropriate triage and caseload allocation.

  • Comprehensive Diagnosis: Incorporate biopsychosocial factors to determine complexity status and formulate effective treatment plans.

Workshop Learning Outcomes: You will leave the session equipped to accurately describe the 5S clinical features and confidently perform the full diagnostic method: Final Diagnosis (Primary/Secondary), ISL Stage, Severity, Complicated/Uncomplicated, and Complexity assessment.

Client Self Management: do we really want our clients to not need us?

As clinicians we know that wellbeing is not determined by degree of disability. So what drives wellbeing and how can we be a positive part of this and optimise client outcomes? This workshop is facilitated by an experienced lymphedema therapist and a senior researcher in health psychology, bringing together a unique combination of clinical skills and evidence-based research. Join us for an interactive workshop to nut out how we can best facilitate self-efficacy and empower our clients to optimise their lymphoedema care. There is more to be done here than ‘teach’ clients how to reduce risk, or once present, how to best care for their oedema. We need to also understand the challenges they face in learning to care for themselves.

Workshop in two parts:

Kim Allan - Lymphoedema Physiotherapist: what do we actually teach our clients and what should we expect them to do? Are we really aiming to reduce reliance?

Professor Kerry Sherman: Why is it that our clients don't always follow our advice? What do we need to know abour how our clients regard their lymphoedema diagnosis to genuinely facilitate their self-management and self-care? Participants will improve their confidence in facilitating genuine self care while providing the support and nurturing we know our clients need and deserve to survive and thrive.
